Amongst the countless blessings which Almighty ALLAH has bestowed upon the Muslims is that He has preserved their religion for them and provided the appropriate means for Islam to be safeguarded and preserved, in that He has raised erudite scholars through whom the Sunnah of the Noble Prophet, Muhammad ibn Abdullaah صلّی الله علیهِ وآلهِ وسلم, the seal of the prophets صلّی الله علیهِ وآلهِ وسلم, has been preserved. Thus the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet صلّی الله علیهِ وآلهِ وسلم provide evidence against mankind. One of the scholars through whom Allah preserved the Sunnah was Imaam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (Rahimahullah), and one of the books that he wrote to preserve the Sunnah is al-Musnad, which is one of the major collections of the noble Sunnah.

In seeking to follow in the footsteps of some of the Imams of Islam who clarified matters of the Islamic belief system by way of poetry, such as Ibn Abee Dawud (d.316H) in his Haa’iyah, al-Nuniyyah by al-Qahtaani (d.383H), al-Laamiyyah attributed to Shaykhul Islam ibn Taymiyyah (d.728H), al-Kaafiyah al-Shaafiyah by Ibn al-Qayyim (d.751H), and Sullam al-Wusool fi ‘Ilm al-Usool by Shaykh Haafidh Al-Hakami (d.1377H) (May Allah have mercy on him), I have composed the following lines of poetry in the English language on some of the core beliefs of the Muslim. We ask Allah the Most High to make it beneficial for those who hear it and read it. Indeed, He is the All-Hearer, the One Who responds to the supplications.

If a person had no other distress or anguish before them except death, this would be sufficient to disturb their livelihood. Death is the reality of every soul and it is the destroyer of all pleasures. How strange is it indeed that a human is so immersed in worldly life; it’s delights, glitter, glamour, fame and power that they are heedless of a truth which is about to strike at any time, with no return.
