This is the 3rd edition of the book “Three Essays on the Obligation of Veiling” which was published in 2003 and received with warm acceptance by the English-speaking Muslims to the point that there was a need for it to be reprinted since the original edition has run out, all praise be to Allaah.

‘The Illustrious Women of Islam’ is a collection of biographies taken from two of the most trusted Islamic history books authored by Imam ad-Dhahabi and Ibn Hajar Asqalani. The first book recounts memoirs of those noble women closest to the Prophet peace be upon him such as his wives, nursing mothers, daughters, granddaughters, paternal aunts, paternal cousins, nursing sisters, and select women from the Muhajirun and Ansar. The second book is a biographical encyclopedia arranged in alphabetical order illustrating these noble women from mankind and Jinn.

Al-Islām has given to the status of the woman and her position within Al-Islām and that she has a great status within Al-Islām; a prestigious status; a status of respect, and she is not an object of enjoyment. Rather, she has a place within the Masjid and she has a status within the society. She has a status within the home and she has a right as it relates to the inheritance; she has a right as it relates to buying and selling and ownership. She may own that which Allāh permits for her to own. Thus is the woman within Al-Islām and this is her status.
